How to Refurnish Your Backyard Patio This Summer

Having a patio space is ideal for most homeowners. After all, 90% of Americans prefer to live in homes surrounded by grass lawns. If you’re looking to make that patio look refurbished and renovated with a small amount of money, then there are a few things you can do. You don’t need to spend a lot to upgrade the space and make it more inviting and friendly. Below are a few ways to refurbish the area and breathe new life into your patio this summer.

Refurnish Old Furniture

If you have some older furniture pieces that you aren’t using but would be great to sit outside under your covered patio, then make sure you bring those pieces out of the patio. First, you can stain them if they’re wood, and make sure they are upgraded to be safe in the sun and weather. For example, unused coffee tables are great for making small sitting areas for coffee or tea.

If you have good patio furniture already, but it doesn’t match the theme you want, just pull it to the grassy area and paint it with exterior safe paint the color you want. You can also get new outdoor pillows and cushions for the outdoor sofas and chairs in new colors for little to no money and stay within your budget. Freshening up these pieces instead of buying new ones will save you a lot of money.

Purchase Handmade Furniture

If you have an idea about a piece of furniture or two that you want to add, but don’t have it lying around the house, check for some homemade furniture in local online stores. Some prefer Amish furniture since 100% of it is hand-crafted. You can also visit social media posts to see if there are any local pieces available to purchase. Even if the furniture isn’t in the color you want, you can always purchase it and then paint it later to match your patio design.

Repurpose Your Old Dining Table

While you may like one of the patio tables you’ve seen at the home improvement store, the perfectly good dining table you have in storage will also work. Take it out of storage, sand it down, and add some stain or exterior paint to it. It will work as a great patio table, saving you money in the process, because you only have to pay for repair items and not spend hundreds of dollars on a new table.

Tie It Together With Decorations

Once you have most of the new furniture that you want out on your patio, make sure you spend just a little bit of money on decorations and accessories in this area. You can choose to purchase these from small businesses. In Kentucky alone, there are approximately 335,000 businesses registered, so you shouldn’t have any trouble finding the right company for your vision. Each patio in 2024 needs strings of lights to give you an intimate ambiance when you’re sitting on your patio at night. You should also have a centerpiece on your table to bring the patio area together just like you would your dining space inside of your home.

Adding a little greenery for decoration will tie the entire patio together. You want plants that hang if you have the space for them, or large patio plants in pots that will bring some natural color to the area. If you have pets, choose those that are pet-friendly and don’t have a lot of strong smells for visitors who may have allergies.

Your Patio Is All Ready For The Summer

If you’ve gone through these different tips for refurnishing your patio, then you’re ready for the summer. It’s ideal to have a nice outdoor space to enjoy dinner, a drink, or just the sound of nature and some good weather. Making this space comfortable and your own doesn’t have to cost a lot of money either, so set a budget and get your patio ready.
